Synopsis
Stalking and
restraining orders are a thing of Alayna Wither’s past. With her MBA newly in
hand, she has her future figured out—move up at the nightclub she works at and
stay away from any guy who might trigger her obsessive love disorder. A perfect
plan.
But what
Alayna didn’t figure on is Hudson Pierce, the new owner of the nightclub. He’s
smart, rich, and gorgeous—the kind of guy Alayna knows to stay away from if she
wants to keep her past tendencies in check. Except, Hudson’s fixed his sights
on her. He wants her in his bed and makes no secret of it. Avoiding him isn’t
an option after he offers a business
proposition
she can’t turn down and she’s drawn further into his universe, unable to resist
his gravitational pull.
When she
learns Hudson has a dark history of his own, she realizes too late that she’s fallen
for the worst man she could possibly get involved with. Or maybe their less
than ideal pasts give them an opportunity to heal each other and finally find
the love their lives have been missing.
Christine's Review:
I really liked this one. Who doesn't like a sexy dominant billionaire? Hudson Pierce has just been added as another sexy book boyfriend.
Alayna and Pierce, both have a crazy past and don't know how to have functional relationships. However, they have this attraction to each and every scene with them just oozes sex.
At certain times, it was hard not to think of other sexy dominant book series as there were some things very similar but at the same time the story line was different which was refreshing. Alyana has her faults, but I actually really like her and enjoyed to see her grow as the story progressed. I loved how she interacted with Sophia, that women drove me crazy! I'm still on the fence about Celia and do not trust her but I guess it will all play out in the next books.
The story was well balanced, it was light, sexy and just the right amount of angst. I'm glad to say we weren't left with a cliffhanger although book two is currently out so you can dive right in.
I give this sexy, hot book 4.5 bookmarks.
Excerpt:
I moved to the door and placed my hand on the knob. But
Hudson’s palm pressed on the top of the door, holding it closed and trapping me
between him and the wall.
He lowered his head to my ear. “Wait, Alayna.” His breath
tickled and burned simultaneously. I closed my eyes, taking it in, bearing it.
“I apologize for overwhelming you. That wasn’t my intent. But I want you to
know that whether or not you decide to help with my situation, I will continue
to seduce you. I’m a man who gets what he wants. And I want you.”
Um, holy wow.
Turned on did not begin to describe how his statement made
me feel.
Then his mouth was on me, nibbling at my earlobe. I drew in
a sharp breath. Involuntarily, I let my head roll to the side, granting him
better access.
And, man, did he take what I gave, nipping a trail
down my neck, sending ripples of desire through my belly. I moved my hand off
the doorknob and grabbed his arm to steady myself. He curled his other arm
around me, his hand settling on my breast. I gasped at the contact, leaning in
to his touch.
He kneaded my breast as he nuzzled his face in my hair. “I
should have told you earlier,” he said softly. “You look absolutely beautiful
tonight. I can’t keep my eyes off you. Serious and sexy wrapped into one
package.” He pressed against me and I could feel his erection at my lower back.
“Kiss me, Alayna.”
It was so hot how he used my name freely. As if it was his
to use. And in many ways it was. Almost no one called me anything but Laynie.
He’d claimed my name when he claimed me.
All that was left was for me to accept it.

About the Author
USA Today Bestselling Author Laurelin Paige is a sucker for
a good romance and gets giddy anytime there’s kissing, much to the
embarrassment of her three daughters. Her husband doesn’t seem to complain,
however. When she isn’t reading or writing sexy stories, she’s probably
singing, watching Mad Men and the Walking Dead, or dreaming of Adam Levine. She
is represented by the wonderful Bob Diforio of D4EO Literary Agency.
