Reapers Legacy by Joanna Wylde

Reaper's Legacy by JoAnna Wylde

WELCOME TO THE CLUB

Eight years ago, Sophie gave her heart—and her virginity—to Zach Barrett on a night that couldn’t have been less romantic or more embarrassing. Zach’s step-brother, a steely-muscled, tattooed biker named Ruger, caught them in the act, getting a peep show of Sophie he’s never forgotten.

She may have lost her dignity that fateful night, but Sophie also gained something precious—her son Noah. Unfortunately, Zach’s a deadbeat dad, leaving Ruger to be Noah’s only male role model. When he discovers Sophie and his nephew living in near poverty, Ruger takes matters into his own hands—with the help of the Reapers Motorcycle Club—to give them a better life.

Living with outlaw bikers wasn’t Sophie’s plan for her son, but Ruger isn’t giving her a choice. He’ll be there for Noah, whether she wants him or not. But Sophie does want him, has always wanted him. Now she’ll learn that taking a biker to bed can get a girl dirty in every way…

Dawn's Review

5 out of 5 bookmarks

Let me start by saying I love books about MC's and I love books with alpha males. Joanna Wylde blends these two together perfectly and the result is me devouring this book in record time. We meet Sophie who is young and inexperienced. She sleeps with her boyfriend Zach in an unromantic way that results in her getting pregnant. Worse is the fact that Zach's step-brother, Ruger, walks in on them in the act since they are in his apartment on his couch.

Zach, being young and carefree, doesn't take care of Sophie while she's pregnant. When Sopie goes into labor Ruger has to drive her to the hospital and winds up delivering his nephew on the side of the road. This forms an instant bond between Ruger and Noah much to Sophie's chagrin.

Fast forward seven years Sophie has moved and struggles with being a single parent. Zach is absent and stops paying her child support. Her job has long hours and low pay which results in Sophie and Noah living one step up from poverty. When the normal babysitter can't watch Noah Sophie reluctantly turns him over to her neighbor. While on shift at the bar she checks her phone to discover Noah has called panicked. She asks her boss if she can leave and is told no. Putting her son above her job she goes anyway to discover Noah has been hiding out on the fire escape to avoid the neighbor's possible pedophile boyfriend. Sophie rescues Noah and takes him home but Noah tells her when he couldn't get ahold of her he called his Uncle Ruger.

What happens next sets up perfectly for the next book in the series. We are introduced to rival gang members Hunter and Skid. Ruger is pissed Sophie is living in an apartment with no lock on the windows and a door that is flimsy at best. He calls Horse (Yay Horse is back!) and together they pack up Sophie and Ruger and take them home to live in Ruger's basement.

There is a conflict of feelings between Ruger and Sophie. Sophie wants to be independent, to be able to provide for her son. She doesn't want her son growing up around the MC lifestyle, a sediment that is further justified when she is kidnapped with Em by Hunter of the rival MC gang the Devil's Jack.

Can Ruger show her that the MC lifestyle isn't always scary and bad? After all they take care of their own. This book was awesome. I will read anything Joanna Wylde publishes about this group. Her characters are colorful and the men are hot. (Piercing anyone?) I am eagely awaiting Em and Hunter's story. a Rafflecopter giveaway

It's Not Over by A.L. Zuan Blog Tour & Giveaway

IT’S NOT OVER
Releases: January 13, 2014

Blog Tour Hosted by: Naughty and Nice Book Blog

Synopsis:

“If I let go, will you catch me?”

He had wanted her to help him win his ex-girlfriend back. She had wanted to teach him a few lessons on how to treat a woman. Neither one had planned for the unexpected.

I couldn't stand by and watch. It hit too close to home. I had to run fast and far to get away and forget him. He weaseled his way into my life, making me question rules I lived by and turned my orderly life upside down. I'm falling apart and coming undone. I don't do that. I'm Madison Stuart. I live life by my rules. I won't be derailed by a man. I won't...I can't.

She's gone. I'm desperate and going insane. I'll do whatever it takes to find her. I don't know when it happened, but I won't let her go, not like this. What has she done to me? I'm Rick Marin for crying out loud. I don't chase women, but she's not just a woman. She's Maddy--my Maddy--and I need her.
Follow Rick and Madison’s story, The Do Over’s most notorious couple, as they learn that It’s Not Over.

Excerpt:

In a tender voice, he said, “Maddy, you’ve got to be one of the most beautiful women I’ve ever seen. Tonight though, you’re also breathtaking.”
“Thank you.” I accepted his compliment while draping the linen napkin across my lap, and I smiled to myself.
“I think we’re making progress.” He winked. “Normally, you’d insult me when I said something nice to you.”
“True.” I shrugged and said offhandedly, “You’ve annoyed the shit out of me today. I think I deserve having you kiss my ass.”
“You know, I’m the best ass-kisser there is.” He ran his fingers along my back. “Why stop with the ass when you’ve got an amazing body that requires the same level of care and attention?”
“Is this your best?” I gave him a side-glance. “I’m counting on the wow factor. I want it to be so good that I actually believe you.”
He shifted in his seat and cocked his head. “I don’t know why you ever doubt me.”
“For starters, you’re a liar and a manipulator.”
“Minor technicality,” he said in a serious tone.
I laughed. “Let’s add comedian as well.”
His eyes widened, and I held back a giggle.
“You really believe that, don’t you?” I asked.
“I’ve never hidden that from you. In fact, you’re the only person I’ve ever been completely honest with. You accept me for who I am, kick me in the ass on a constant basis, and call me out on my bullshit.” He reached for his wine and took a sip. “Let me put it to you this way. You disappeared on me, and I pulled every single trick I had to find you. Think about that. When have I ever had to work this hard to get a woman to talk to me? Never.”

Christine's Review:

In book one "The Do Over", I wasn't really on Team Rick but there was something about him that I was drawn to even though he was a major @$$. I enjoyed the friendship that Rick and Maddy were building but you just knew there was "more" and holy hell the sexual tension between them was melting the pages of my Ipad. Rick has redeemed himself and has changed but not really, he's just the kind of guy you like when he's with Maddy (although he's still an @$$) but really who doesn't like a guy with a little of that gene.

Maddy and Rick drove me crazy but together they have this intense connection.  Maddy is resistant but you'll find out why  and I could sympathize with her. At first, I was honestly scared what road Maddy and Rick would take me on but they drew me in and I got emotionally invested with them. A.L. really pulled me in and felt that tension between them. All I can say is, that ending has left me a little speechless and I can't wait to see where Rick and Maddy end up. I was shocked, cause I didn't see that happening!!

This is a series you should check out. 4 bookmarks! I think I might have to stalk the author to see when we get the rest of Maddy and Rick's story.

Excerpt

I’m a bundle of nerves as I step out into the night air. It’s hard to not see him. He’s leaning against his truck. His back is to me and I almost don’t think he knows I am coming until he turns around to face me. My heart drops in my chest as I look into his eyes. We say nothing for a minute. We’re taking this time to rememorize each other, this time without the loud music and bright lights of the club. His hand reaches up and brushes against my cheek. I shudder trying to control myself. I missed his touch so much. I close my eyes praying this isn’t some dream but I open them and he’s here with his hand still on my cheek. “I miss you Hope.” He whispers. I won’t cry. I’m telling myself that. I’ll kick my own ass if I cry. I won’t be weak. “I miss you too,” I whisper almost inaudibly. We go back to not speaking. I can’t believe I’m standing outside in front of him. In front of the man who completely melts my heart. “Can you forgive me?” He leans in closing his mouth over mine and takes charge blowing my mind. I kiss him fiercely. “I can’t think of you being anyone else’s but mine Hope.” He says between kisses.

MaRanda's Opinion

Okay, I may be a tad biased when I’m reviewing this book. I am her beta reader. I have read this book twice now. And I can honestly say it gets better everytime.
Who doesn’t love a hot and wild cowboy? Wesley makes me want to go to Texas and see if cowboys do exist?
Hope has endured so many tragedies in her life, and when she finds her fiance screwing another woman in her bed, its her last straw.
Hope meets Wesley at a rodeo. Do they fall in love? Does she go back to her lying, cheating, no good for nothing ex? I dont know. You will have to read this wonderful novel to see.
Be on the look out for Ashley Johnson, she is going to do GREAT things.

I rate this book 4.5 book marks.

Excerpt:

The sexy, throaty timbre of his voice still resonated in the room; it poured through her body, warming her veins and making her feel heavy and sedated, like drinking wine in front of the fireplace while a snowstorm raged outside.

It was sex and salvation and desire and serenity, stirring something primal and innately feminine in her.
Leah’s breathing became shallow as she continued to stare up at him, and he kept his eyes on hers, still swaying them gently to the music. It felt like a current was running just below the surface of her skin, making her hypersensitive to everything around her: his hand on her back, the soft sound of his breathing, the scent of his skin.

And that voice.

She wanted to hear it again. She wanted to fall asleep listening to it every night. She wanted him to wake her up with it every morning.

Leah took a step forward, closing the tiny distance between them and pressing her body against his, and he dropped his head slightly and exhaled. The warm rush of his breath danced over the side of her neck, causing goose bumps to prickle over her skin, and Leah turned her head slightly, breathing him in as they moved to the music.

She had wanted this for so long—to feel his body up against hers again. She’d imagined it so many times, but those daydreams were pitiful echoes of the reality.

All at once she realized she was trembling, and Leah tightened her arm around his back, trying to steady herself against him. She knew what she wanted, why she had asked him to come in, and now that he was right in front of her, she could feel the apprehension beginning to swirl with the growing desire in her belly.

Danny’s hand moved on her back, his fingertips teasing the sliver of exposed skin above the waist of her jeans.

“You’re shaking,” he whispered, slipping his hand up the back of her shirt and tracing soothing circles on her overheated skin. Leah’s eyes fell closed as she dropped her forehead to his shoulder. With every pass of his fingers, a tingling sensation rippled over her skin, making her feel almost dizzy.

Knowing Jack by Rachel Curtis Tour & Review

New Adult Contemporary Romance
By Rachel Curtis

Released January 17, 2014

I am not a slut, although I’ve been called one often enough. Yeah, I spent three months screwing one of my college professors, but I was crazy about the guy. Then he broke up with me.
I am not a bitch, although people like to say I am. I kept our relationship secret. I’m not responsible for telling the university administrators about it, but a lot of students still blame me for getting their favorite professor fired.
I am not a drama queen, although everyone thinks I am now. When I got a few nasty messages, I just deleted them. When I got the threat, I assumed it was someone being stupid. I still think that’s all it was. My parents worry, though, so they hired me a bodyguard. Now Jack follows me around, intimidating everyone who approaches me and looking obnoxiously hot.
This is what I am. I’m Chloe. I’m a twenty-year-old art history major. Kind of shy, although I pretend not to be. Stubborn enough to stay here for my senior year, even though everyone hates me.
And I’m stuck with Jack.
He calls me “Princess,” but I’m not a princess either.

About the Author

Rachel is a writer, a teacher, a romance reader, and a dog-mom. She loves animals and art and hot men with soft hearts under a tough exterior. She tries to write love stories that feel real, even in unlikely circumstances.

MaRanda's Opinion

WOW! I was pulled into this book just by reading the synopsis. Poor Chloe was being bullied at her school because of a stupid mistake she had made. Her parents hire a bodyguard -- enter sigh -- in steps Jack. This story is amazing. I can’t even praise this novel enough. If you don’t buy this one, then I dont think we can be friends anymore. ;)
Can’t wait for the second novel.

Seriously though, GO….BUY….READ….NOW!

I rate this book 5 book marks.
